Animal Control & Dog Licenses

Pets

It is unlawful for the owner of any dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, to allow such dog to run at large in the City. All owners of any dog or dogs must license their dog at the City Office. Owner must provide a dated rabies vaccination certificate, effective for the ensuing year of the license, before a license may be issued.

It shall be unlawful for the Owner or Occupant of any residence or premises within the City Limits of the City of David City, to own, keep, or harbor more thank three (3) dogs, cats, or a combination of dogs and cats who are over the age of six (6) months. (Ordinance # 1190)

Dog Licenses

All dogs in David City must be licensed. A license is required if the dog is over 6 months of age. Documentation from a veterinarian is required to prove that the dog is current on all vaccinations (e.g. Rabies). A Dog License is $10.00 if the dog is spayed or neutered and is $20.00 if the dog is NOT spayed or neutered. All dog licenses expire on December 31st of the current year and need to be renewed annually.

All dogs shall have the permanent tag affixed to the dog collars so that the Butler County Sheriff’s Department can see that the dog has been licensed.

For further information please refer to City Code Chapter 6, Article 1.
