Water and Sewer Supervisor

 

The City of David City, Nebraska is currently accepting applications for the position of Water and Sewer Supervisor. The Water and Sewer Supervisor is responsible for the management and operation of the water and sewer systems and plants. Examples of work include but are not limited to: conduct regular inspections of the water and sewer plants and equipment; perform readings of equipment and chemical levels; determine water quality and adjust chemicals accordingly; collect wastewater samples; conduct preventive maintenance; install and maintain fire service protection lines; perform overtime duties as necessary for repair; ensure all established safety standards are observed; plan and direct crews to various jobs; troubleshoot, recognize and correct system problems; operate and use a variety of equipment and machinery; maintain a log of all maintenance, repairs and checks; compose various reports; and assist customers, contractors, plumbers and other, as necessary, in completing work. Requires a high school graduate or equivalent; two (2) years technical college training in the field of water or wastewater; minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in water and/or sewer systems construction and maintenance work, of which two must have been in a supervisory or foreman capacity; minimum Grade II Water Operators Certification; minimum Grade VI Backflow in Water; minimum Grade II Wastewater Certification; and a valid Nebraska Driver’s License. Wages are determined by the employee pay scale. Full benefits within six months of hired date. Deadline for submission of application is May 23, 2008.
